(Chris Moody) The main super PAC supporting President Barack Obama's re-election bid is set to release an Olympic-themed ad aimed at Mitt Romney's international business record.
Paid for by Priorities USA Action, the one-minute spot shows footage of Romney at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2002. The ad makes it appear as though he's welcoming China, India, Burma, Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, which is meant to suggest that Romney has outsourced American jobs to the first three countries and stores part of his money in offshore accounts in the latter three. (Romney led the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics.)
"Ya gotta say this about Mitt Romney," an announcer in the ad says. "He sure knows how to go for the gold...for himself."
The ad will air in swing states Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia and is part of the group's $20 million ad campaign against Romney.
During the Olympics, the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future will run ads in favor of the presumptive Republican nominee and the Obama campaign has purchased $5.5 million in ad space during the Games as well.
