(Michael Bastasch) -- What if the 2012 presidential election came down to fisticuffs? According to a new Esquire/Yahoo! poll, most Americans — 58 percent — put their money on President Obama beating Mitt Romney in a fist fight.
Only 22 percent of the general public believe that Romney would beat Obama in a fist fight, and another 20 percent remain undecided.
Even when the numbers are boiled down to just likely voters, people still don’t have much confidence in Romney’s ability to punch out Obama. Among likely voters only 21 percent believe Romney could win and 57 percent see Obama winning in a fight. Yet 22 percent of likely voters are still undecided.
However, when it comes to who they would prefer as president — and not fist fighting — 46 percent of likely voters say they would vote for Romney and 50 percent say they would vote for Obama.
