New police audio and video tapes indicate conflicting accounts of sexual abuse allegations against Tempe's mayoral elect.

Phoenix Police have just released the tapes, which show a woman on camera with Mark Mitchell discussing what happened nearly thirty years ago.  The video shows her saying to Mitchell that "he was her first and that it was very difficult for her."  He acknowledges by saying, "yeah."  Mitchell is also captured on tape apologizing and telling the woman that "they were experimenting."  The woman is also heard making reference to "that one time in the shed."

During a last minute push for votes in the election for mayor, Mitchell publicly addressed the people of Tempe by denying the allegations.  He said he had done nothing wrong…not now….not thirty years ago when he was a young child.  Police say Mitchell also told them that he denied knowing the woman.   Despite these conflicting details, the Yavapai County Prosecutor's Office decided not to file charges against Mitchell.

Mitchell narrowly defeated Republican candidate, Michael Monti, in the race for Mayor.
