At least six people, including a child, trapped in flood waters had to be rescued from a rain-swollen roadway on Tuesday.

Carefree Highway was shut down west of I-17 to Lake Pleasant due to flooding and the rescue operation.

Fire Rescue officials say three vehicles were stuck in fast moving flood waters as the monsoon delivered a drenching blow with as much as four inches of rain in a short time to the area.
