Former state lawmaker Daniel Patterson has been acquitted of misdemeanor domestic violence charges.

This comes months after he resigned from office after members of his own party recommeded his expulsion from the legislature.

Patterson calls the acquittal a vindication and the prosecution a "political witch hunt" and a waste of taxpayer money.
