PHOENIX - Seven people were arrested at a furniture restoration business for allegedly using fake ID's to get hired. It was the 66th employers sanction performed by Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Deputies with Maricopa County Sheriff's office served search warrants to NU Look Revinyling, near 19th Street and Washington Street.
MCSO arrested seven suspects for identification theft. Two suspects were using the same Social Security numer of a deceased person.
All seven people are also suspected of being in the US illegally.
"Identity theft is a serious problem for the victims of these crimes," Arpaio said. "The arrests of illegal aliens who are employed using fake names and false social security numbers opens up employment opportunities for those who are in this country legally."
Sheriff's deputies had investigated the business since January and determined at least nine employees used fake ID's to gain and maintain employment with the company.
Thursday's raid was the 66th workplace criminal enforcement operation since 2008, Arpaio said.
