A man with a rifle puts a South Phoenix neighborhood on edge.
At 8:15 Thursday morning, police got a call a man with a rifle allegedly exchanged words and pointed the weapon at another person.
When police arrived on scene near 15th Avenue and Broadway, officer saw the man with a long gun who went to a house and set the gun down and moved away. The man was then taken into custody ending the incident peacefully.
Sergeant Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department said the SWAT team responded with officers so they would not have to play catch-up. "We responded with enough resources to be able to control the area, contain this individual and ultimately take him into custody without incident.
No schools were on lock-down but a few homes were evacuated.
