It's a case of a woman scorned, says the prosecution in the case against Elizabeth Johnson, the mother of missing Baby Gabriel.
They say she used Gabriel as a pawn to get back at the baby's father, Logan McQueary. On December 18, 2009, two days before Logan was to have his visitation with their son, Elizabeth closed her bank accounts and left the state with the baby. No one knew where they were. In a phone communication, she told Logan that she killed Gabriel and put him in a dumpster.
The defense does not dispute details of the case, but reminds the jury that speculation about the whereabouts of Baby Gabriel is not to be considered in this case. Rather, the focus should be on the charges, which are kidnapping, conspiracy to commit custodial interference and custodial interference.
Logan McQueary is scheduled to take the stand on Monday. The trial is expected to run for several weeks.
